Benefits of Stretching before your Golf Game

The body is flexible. It is supposed to be flexible. You must be able to bend and reach your ball on the grass. You must be able to swing back with your wood. You must be able to reach into your golf bag.

These are simple activities. Nothing grand about them, you merely stretched out a bit. However, if there are difficulties in doing such simple motions, then you have to stretch your limits. You already need a stretching program.

What Is Stretching?

Stretching is simply the act of extending to full length the body or simply a part of it. This activity involves straightening or stretching the structure or the limbs.

How Does One Do the Stretching?

Stretching is fairly easy. As mentioned in the introduction, it is involved in the normal activities. It can be done by any people, regardless of age.

However the extent of stretching and flexing differs. The muscles tighten as a person ages. The range of joint movements can be minimized. This can very well obstruct a golfers game. That is why as the person grows older, bending or flexing becomes more limited. This is why stretching regularly, as part of a routine is very important.

Simple stretches can be done everyday. It can be incorporated in the lifestyle and the daily activities. It does not require much of your time.

Stretching exercises can also be done while waiting to tee off. Actually, stretching is an essential part of any exercise. It must be done first before anything else. Stretching the body and the limbs is a good preparation for a more productive game of golf.

Most serous golfers would do the sit and reach, wherein they position on the floor, extend their legs and reach the tip of their foot with the tip of their hand. Actually, most golf instructors actually encourage their pupils to really do the stretching before playing.

There is actually an ideal length of time in stretching. It is best to do it in 10 minutes. This will give the body enough opportunity to move and flex the muscles, thus preparing it for more complicated and strenuous movements.

Experts however would frown upon going way beyond 10 minutes. Stretching the exercise to 30 minutes or more will already wear out the body, and not favourable for a good game of golf.

So What Are the Benefits of Stretching?

1. Increase the Range of Movement
As one constantly do the stretching exercises, the length of the muscles and the tendons are also increased. This will help in increasing the range of your movement. Thus, the limbs and joints will be able to allow your swing to progress much more smoothly and allow you to strike the golf ball sweetly and allow a correct follow through, also protecting you from those back injuries that can take place. You will definitely feel much fitter and supple.

2. Increased Ability to Perform Skills
When you have a wide range of movement, the more you will be able to do more things. For example, striking the ball in the rough or on sloping ground even jumping high when you achieve your hole in one without feeling any pain when you land back on the grass. Your game of golf will improve with the free natural movement and be able to concentrate on other parts of your game. Stretching in this aspect also allows you to have a more active lifestyle outside of golf.

3. Injury Prevention
One can prevent injury to joints, tendons and muscles with stretching. When the muscles and tendons are well-flexed, they are considered in good working order. This will help in a faster recovery and decreased soreness. The muscles of the body will be able to take more exhausting and rigorous movements with less probability of being injured.

4. Reduce Muscle Tension
If the muscles are given their regular exercises and stretching, it is less likely that

The Benefits Of Golf Driving Nets

The Benefits Of Golf Driving Nets

The drive can be one of the hardest shots to master in golf, so it is worth taking a moment fully appreciate the benefits of golf driving nets.

It could be said that any shot in golf is the hardest to master, and that's probably a fair point. Different people have difficulties with different shots, and most golfers will be focusing on a different point of their game at various times in their lives. From the putt to the approach shot, the fairway shot and the drive, if you improve any one of those, your score will come down, and let's face it that is the bottom line of what we all want to see!

However, the drive is the one shot that sets the tone for each hole, and therefore the round. If you can send your drive away crisply every time, you will set yourself up psychologically for the rest of the task. Going into your second shot from a good position and with an upbeat attitude can shave a point off your score at almost every hole.

Practice makes perfect, or at least it makes better, especially in the game of golf, and it's no exception with the drive. Because it tends to be played with a longer club, and with more speed, the margins for error come down dramatically. Playing 12 drive shots a round is just not enough, you need repetitive practice. So should you hit the driving range and fire those balls into the nets?

Yes, is the short answer.

You need your mind and body

So Do Warm Balls Travel Further?

So Do Warm Balls Travel Further?

It is a fact that a warm golf ball will travel further than a cold ball all things else being equal.

The reason for this is the fact that the added heat affects the compression of the ball.

It is hard to say how much heat would be needed to gain extra length and the gain in distance would be relatively minimal anyway.

Having said that, golf is all about making gains, no matter how big or small in as many areas as possible.

There are some golf pros who prefer to carry their golf balls in their pocket as this helps to retain heat in the ball, so whether it helps mentally or actually enhances the actual distance they get, it is going to benefit them at the end of the day.

If you are playing in particularly cold conditions the ball will lose it's heat quite fast so you will only get the benefit of the first shot in all likelihood.

Once again, even if you can make one gain in one area of your play on each hole, that can add up to a lot of good when the score card is tallied after a round.

Lets Maximize Your Practice Time For Success

Lets Maximize Your Practice Time For Success

We all have limited time and the only way we can expect to improve our golf is through practice.
With limited time you need to maximize your practice to achieve the best results on the course.

So what should you concentrate on mastering in your game?

The obvious choice for those in the know would be your short game where you learn to become proficient with the use of your pitching wedge and the 8 and 9 irons.

These clubs can not only get you out of trouble from wayward shots, they can negate a lot of the benefit that others might gain with better drives off the tee.

The mid-range approach shots are the ones that unravel most players.
It is not only the novices who struggle to master these clubs though.
I have seen many low handicap golfers lose games from their inability to control the approach shots to the green.

The high trajectory irons of pitching wedge, 8 and 9 iron are the hardest to master and for that reason many people are reluctant to spend the time required to put in the necessary practice.

Let Me Get You Out Of The Bunker

Let Me Get You Out Of The Bunker

Until you discover how to hit out of a golf bunker, You are in for a very frustrating gameof golf. Of course ideally you would not hit into the bunker in the beginning, but even the champions find their balls rolling into sand from time to time. Some courses have so many bunkers that there seems to be no other place for the ball to go.

Even on a course that has only a few bunkers, many golfers find that their balls seem to be attracted to them as if they were magnetic. What is sometimes happening here is that even if consciously we are thinking that we must avoid it, focusing our minds on the bunker leads our body to direct the shot there. Therefore, when you are playing past or over a bunker, ignore it and keep your focus fixed on the flag.

If your ball does land in the sand in spite of your best efforts, here is how to get it out. As ever, the stance is vital. To avoid your feet sinking or slipping, work them into the sand a little to have a firm stance. Keep the weight more toward the left leg if you are right handed, or the right leg if you are left handed.

If you have an open lie, take a sand wedge and keep its face square to the flag as you swing down steeply. Swing and follow-through are smooth and equal. Have the club enter the sand around two inches ahead of the ball and exit an equal distance beyond the ball. The exit must be correct in order to send the ball flying straight up out of the bunker.

To practice this shot, start by marking two lines in the sand, around 4 inches apart. Without using a ball, practice having your sand wedge enter the sand on the first line and exiting on the second line. The depth should be just about a half inch. When you are consistently taking out sand at the right depth and distance, place the ball and repeat the shot so that the ball is simply carried out with the sand.
